KUTCH COLLECTION

Kutch weaving derives its name from the place of its origin, the tribal community of the Kutch district of Gujarat in India. It's a 600 year old tradition, done by an extra-weft weaving technique, where a weft yarn is used in the warp of the loom. The designs seen on these fabrics are inspired by the daily lives of the communities that wore them. For instance, the shapes of musical instruments, the footsteps of an animal herd, etc. This weaving technique is usually done on cotton or wool fabric dyed in shades of natural colors, giving it an earthy look and feel.
